Using Jin Shin Jyutsu to Relax
What on earth is that you might ask?
It’s a form of energy healing that works with the body’s life force (similar to acupuncture or acupressure, but without needles).
The practice involves using your own hands as “jumper cables” to gently hold specific points on the body.
These points are like little “battery terminals” - when held, they help release blocked energy, restore flow, and encourage harmony in body, mind, and spirit.
Applying Jin Shin Jyutsu
I find Jin Shin Jyutsu (JSJ) incredibly helpful for managing stress, and it’s simple to practice, making it worth highlighting here. JSJ is a form of acupressure that targets 26 points along the body’s energy pathways. Using gentle touch with fingers and hands, it clears blockages or imbalances in these pathways to restore energy flow, uplift vitality, calm the mind and stabilize emotions. The practice is rooted in the belief that the body can naturally realign its energy pathways, leading to physical, mental and spiritual harmony once balance is restored.

How to apply Jin Shin Jyutsu?
Sit comfortably in a quiet space
Use one hand to gently wrap around and hold a specific finger on the other hand. Apply light pressure, as if you’re cradling the finger
Hold each finger for a minute or two, or until you feel a subtle pulsing or sense of calm
Breathe deeply and mindfully while holding, focusing on releasing tension
Each finger is associated with specific emotions and organ functions. Holding a finger can help release emotional blockages and restore energy flow.
Emotion Connections
Thumb Eases worry, supports digestion (stomach and spleen)
Index Finger Reduces fear, supports kidney and bladder functions
Finger Calms anger, supports liver and gallbladder
Ring Finger Relieves sadness or grief, supports lung and large intestine functions
Little Finger Eases pretence or overthinking, supports heart and small intestine
Try this If you’re feeling anxious, hold your thumb for 3 - 5 minutes while breathing slowly. This can help calm your mind and soothe digestion related tension.
Another great exercise is Palm to Palm Hold
for overall balance and to harmonize all emotions and energies at once WOW
How to Do It:
Press the palms of your hands together firmly for 30 seconds to 1 minute
Release for a few moments, then repeat 2–3 times
Focus on your breath and imagine energy flowing freely throughout your body
Benefits: This is a fast way to calm the mind and body, especially during stressful moments, and can be done anywhere.
