The Power of Affirmations
When I hear the word affirmation, I always associate Louise Hay, who was the author of the famous book ‘You can Heal your Life’ with it. I first came across her because of her wonderful Affirmation cards I once bought. It all made a lot of sense and I can highly recommend that you have a look into Louise Hay and her teachings also. Using affirmations is a great way to stay positive and confirm what you want to achieve or dream of.
What are affirmations?
Affirmations are basically statements we say to ourselves. We use them to shift our mind to make us feel better and help us along the way in what we want to change.
These are the affirmations I personally use to guide me through life.
I am grateful
I am healthy
I am happy
I am abundant
Everyday in every way I feel better and better
I grow and improve every day
I am grateful to the internet for connecting with great and like minded people
The more I learn the more I earn
The list could go on and on, just keep adding to it as you go along
To start setting Affirmations effectively, follow these steps:
Identify Your Goals or Areas for Growth: Reflect on what you want to improve, e.g.confidence, health, relationships, or career. Be specific. For example, instead of “I want to be better,” focus on “I want to feel more confident speaking in public.”
Keep Them Short and Specific: Concise affirmations are easier to repeat and remember
Repeat affirmations daily: Morning or night works best for most. Say them aloud, write them down, or use a mirror to connect deeply. Consistency builds neural pathways over time.
Pair with Action: Affirmations alone don’t create change. If you affirm “I am healthy and strong,” back it up with exercise or better eating habits. Align your actions with your words.
Here's another way to start using affirmations: write down a few things you’d like to shift in your life. It’s a fun little exercise to get the ball rolling. I would suggest to do the following below:
Sticky notes are ideal to use for affirmation and have them placed everywhere
Write down what you want, then turn it into an affirmation
I want better health - I am healthy
I want more money - I am rich
I need more confidence - I am confident
I need a better job - I have a great job
You can keep your affirmations simple. Write them on sticky notes, save them as reminders on your phone, or place them somewhere you'll see them every day - on your fridge, bathroom mirror, desk, or bedside table.
There are many different ways to use affirmations, and you'll discover what feels right for you over time. The most important thing is simply to begin.
Just start . . . . and let the magic unfold.
